Physical Properties

• Density: Measured by ASTM D1505, the density is 0.920 g/cc (0.0332 lb/in³). For blown film, it balances mechanical strength and flexibility for various uses.
• Melt Flow: Based on ASTM D1238 at 2.16 kg load, 190 °C, the melt flow rate is 0.85 g/10 min. It’s fit for blown film extrusion to form quality films.

  • Grocery and T-shirt bags where load-bearing and puncture resistance are essential
  • Trash bags requiring tear strength and chemical resistance
  • Retail and boutique bags benefiting from its good gloss and printability
    Its consistent melt flow (~2.0 g/10 min at 190°C) ensures reliable performance on high-speed film extrusion lines.
• Stretch Film (Pallet Wrapping & Industrial Packaging)
  The grade’s high elasticity and strength make it suitable for hand wrap and machine wrap stretch film. SABIC 920NT provides:
  • High stretchability with good load retention, crucial for wrapping irregular loads on pallets
  • Excellent puncture resistance, reducing film breaks during transportation
  • Compatibility with multi-layer co-extrusion, allowing custom mechanical properties in outer and core layers
    The low gel content and fine melt strength ensure a smooth appearance and stable bubble during film blowing, which is critical in thin gauge film down to 20 µm.
• Agricultural Mulch Films
  In agricultural settings, 920NT is used for mulch and greenhouse films where flexibility, UV resistance (with additives), and mechanical strength are key. It supports:
  • Thermal regulation and weed control in crop rows
  • Ease of installation and retraction due to its high elongation and puncture resistance
  • Customizable performance via blending with UV stabilizers or other polyethylenes
    The resin’s high clarity and drawdown capability allow uniform thin-film production, reducing material usage without compromising durability.
