COVESTRO BAYBLEND T65 HI PC/ABS Resin

Covestro Bayblend T65 HI is a highly versatile and robust thermoplastic blend, combining the key properties of polycarbonate (PC) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS).

Physical Properties

  • Density: Measured in accordance with ISO 1183-1 using injection-molded samples, the density is 1.11 g/cc (0.0401 lb/in³).
  • Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: Per ISO 62, 0.20% at 50% RH, showing low water uptake for stable performance in normal conditions.
  • Water Absorption at Saturation: Per ISO 62, 0.70% when fully saturated, indicating moderate retention for non-submerged applications.
  • Viscosity: At a shear rate of 1000 1/s and temperature of 260 °C (500 °F), the melt viscosity is 300,000 cP (b.o. ISO 11443-A).
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: Per ISO 2577, linear shrinkage (flow/transverse) for 150×105×3 mm plaques is 0.0065–0.0085 cm/cm at 3mm thickness.
  • Melt Flow: As per ISO 1133 standards, at a temperature of 260 °C (500 °F) under a load of 5.00 kg (11.0 lb), the melt flow rate is 5.55 g/10 min.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: PC (Polycarbonate) + ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
  • Key Properties and Advantages:
    • High Impact Strength: The “HI” in the name stands for High Impact.Bayblend T65 HI exhibits exceptional toughness and resistance to impact, even at low temperatures.
    • Good Heat Resistance: It has a high heat deflection temperature, allowing it to maintain dimensional stability and mechanical properties in environments with elevated temperatures.
    • Excellent Processing Characteristics: This material is known for its good flowability, which enables the molding of complex, thin-walled parts.
    • Superior Dimensional Stability: Bayblend T65 HI offers excellent dimensional stability and low warpage, ensuring that finished parts maintain their shape and size over time.
    • Good Surface Aesthetics: It can be easily colored and finished to achieve a high-quality, aesthetically pleasing surface.
