Envalior Akulon S223-G4U PA66 Resin

Envalior Akulon S223-G4U is a 23% glass-reinforced PA66 with high heat resistance for medium-duty automotive, electronics, and industrial applications.

Physical Properties

  • Density: According to ISO 1183, the density is 1.28 g/cc (0.0462 lb/in³), with 23% glass fibers increasing density and mechanical properties.
  • Water Absorption: Simulating ISO 62, water absorption drops to 7.0 %, suggesting improved resistance to moisture ingress via fiber reinforcement.
  • Moisture Absorption: Under humidity conditions (sim. ISO 62), moisture absorption is 2.00 %, a slight reduction from lower fiber grades.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage (Flow): As per ISO 294-4, flow-direction shrinkage is 0.0070 cm/cm (0.0070 in/in), significantly reduced by higher fiber content.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage (Transverse): Per ISO 294-4, transverse shrinkage is 0.012 cm/cm (0.012 in/in), still higher than flow direction but lower than unfilled grades.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: Polyamide 66 (PA66)
  • Reinforcement: 23% Glass Fiber
  • Modification Features:
    • 23% glass fiber for medium-duty strength.
    • Heat-resistant for under-the-hood use.
    • Stable dimensions for complex moldings.

Applications:

The unique combination of high strength, stiffness, heat resistance, and UV stability makes Akulon S223-G4U an excellent choice for a wide range of structural and outdoor components.

  1. Automotive Structural Components
    • Under-the-Hood Parts: The high HDT and strength make it ideal for engine covers, air intake manifolds, and brackets that are exposed to high heat and mechanical stress.
    • Exterior Grilles and Frames: The UV resistance and rigidity allow it to be used for automotive exterior components that must withstand sunlight and environmental factors.
  2. Industrial Equipment and Machinery
    • Structural Housings and Brackets: The material’s high flexural modulus and tensile strength make it perfect for load-bearing components in industrial machinery.
    • Outdoor Enclosures: Used for electrical boxes, control panels, and sensor housings that require both mechanical strength and protection from the elements.
  3. Consumer and Sporting Goods
    • Sporting Equipment: Components in bicycles, skis, and other sporting goods that need to be lightweight yet strong and durable.
    • Power Tool Casings: The high strength and heat resistance are well-suited for durable power tool housings.
