Celanese Zytel ST7301 PA6 Resin
Celanese Zytel ST7301 PA6 Resin is a super-tough, heat-stabilized, lubricated, unreinforced polyamide 6 (PA6) resin designed for injection molding and extrusion.
Physical Properties
- Density: Measured using injection-molded samples in accordance with ISO 527-1A and ISO 1183 standards, the density is 1.06 g/cc (0.0383 lb/in³).
- Melt Density: At a temperature of 270°C (518°F), the melt density is 0.960 g/cc (0.0347 lb/in³).
- Moisture Absorption: Under conditions simulating ISO 62 standards, the moisture absorption for a 2.00 mm thick specimen is 2.70%.
- Viscosity Number: Measured using 96% sulfuric acid in accordance with ISO 307, the viscosity number is 160 cm³/g (1.60 dl/g).
- Linear Mold Shrinkage:Injection-molded specimens show 0.010 cm/cm linear shrinkage in flow/transverse directions under standard conditions, dropping to 0.0010 cm/cm after 80°C/48h post-treatment.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Polyamide 6 (PA6)
- Modification Features:
-
- Super toughened for high impact resistance.
- Enhanced ductility under dynamic loads.
- Improved resistance to cracking and notches.
- Stable performance across wide temperature ranges.
Applications:
These applications align with Zytel ST7301’s high impact resistance, flexibility, and moderate thermal stability, suitable for injection molding, extrusion, or potential 3D printing:
- Cable Ties:
- Product: Automotive wiring harness ties, industrial cable management ties.
- Why Suitable: High elongation (>50%) and impact resistance (>50 kJ/m²) enable durable, flexible ties that withstand repeated bending and tension. Resists oils and temperatures up to ~120°C in engine compartments or construction sites.
- Processing: Injection molding for precise snap-lock designs; 3D printing feasible for custom or low-volume ties with industrial printers.
- Automotive Interior Parts:
- Product: Flexible clips (e.g., for dashboard panels), seat adjustment levers, soft-touch trim inserts.
- Why Suitable: Super-toughness ensures resistance to impact and vibration in passenger compartments. Moderate thermal stability (~100–120°C) suits interior conditions. Flexibility prevents cracking during assembly or use.
- Processing: Injection molding for high-volume production; 3D printing viable for prototyping custom clips or low-volume parts.
- Flexible Tubing:
- Product: Pneumatic tubing for automotive air brake systems, hydraulic tubing for industrial machinery.
- Why Suitable: Flexibility and chemical resistance to oils/fuels make it ideal for extruded tubing. High impact resistance ensures durability under pressure, bending, or environmental stress.
- Processing: Extrusion for continuous tubing; 3D printing possible for short, custom tube segments or fittings with industrial printers.
