LG Chem XR401 Hot Sale ABS Resin

LG Chem XR401 Hot Sale ABS Polymer is an acrylonitrile – butadiene – styrene copolymer produced by LG Chem.

Physical Properties

  • Specific Gravity: Determined in accordance with ASTM D792 standards, the specific gravity of the material is measured as 1.05 g/cc (1.05 g/cc) for reference.
  • Maximum Moisture Content: For injection molding processes, the specified maximum moisture content is 0.010 (unitless), ensuring material suitability for manufacturing.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage, Flow: As per ASTM D955, at 3.20 mm (0.126 in) thickness, linear mold shrinkage is 0.0040–0.0070 cm/cm (0.0040–0.0070 in/in).
  • Melt Flow: As per ASTM D1238 guidelines, the melt flow rate is 9.0 g/10 min under a 10.0 kg (22.0 lb) load at a temperature of 220 °C (428 °F).

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) copolymer.
  • Modification Features:
    • Optimized for injection molding to produce complex, high-precision parts.
    • Heat-resistant to maintain performance under elevated temperatures.
    • Offers high-gloss finish for enhanced aesthetic appeal.
    • Provides decent scratch resistance for surface durability.

Applications:

  1. Home Appliance Housings
    • Examples: Washing machines, vacuum cleaners, air conditioner panels.
    • Why XR401: Its high gloss finish and dimensional stability allow manufacturers to mold large parts with superior surface aesthetics. The impact resistance also supports long-term durability.
    • Case Study: In LG’s own appliance line, XR401 is used for vacuum cleaner outer shells, where drop resistance and aesthetic quality are both essential.
  2. Automotive Interior Components
    • Examples: Dashboard trims, glovebox panels, pillar covers.
    • Why XR401: The resin offers excellent colorability and UV stability (when compounded), with high dimensional accuracy required for tight-fitting interior parts.
    • Performance Note: Izod impact resistance ≥ 18 kJ/m² ensures it withstands impact from regular use or minor collisions.
  3. Consumer Electronics
    • Examples: Set-top boxes, remote controls, computer peripherals.
    • Why XR401: With a high MFI (~12 g/10min), it flows easily into complex molds, allowing thin-wall designs without compromising mechanical strength.
    • Supporting Data: Tensile strength ≥ 45 MPa ensures structural integrity for daily-use electronic enclosures.
  4. Toys and Leisure Products
    • Examples: High-end LEGO-compatible toys, scooter body panels.
    • Why XR401: Non-toxic formulation (RoHS compliant), excellent impact strength, and processability make it suitable for safe and colorful toy parts.
    • Customer Feedback: Toy manufacturers favor XR401 for its consistent batch-to-batch gloss and toughness, reducing part rejections.
  5. Office Equipment Components
    • Examples: Printer trays, copier panels, phone casings.
    • Why XR401: Its chemical resistance and mechanical stability under heat cycles (HDT ~90°C) make it ideal for devices exposed to internal heating or static loads.
  6. Processing & Molding Benefits
    • Molding Method: Injection Molding
    • Recommended Drying Conditions: 80°C for 2–4 hours
    • Mold Temperature Range: 40–60°C
    • Barrel Temperature: 200–250°C (typical)
    • XR401’s high melt flow facilitates efficient cycle times, and its formulation ensures low warpage, a crucial factor for precision applications such as electronics and automotive trim.
