Kolon KOCETAL K100 HOT Sale POM Resin

Kolon KOCETAL K100 is a high-viscosity polyoxymethylene (POM) copolymer grade manufactured by Kolon Plastics.

Physical Properties

  • Specific Gravity: Determined by ASTM D792, the specific gravity is 1.41 g/cc, consistent across metric and English units.
  • Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: At 60% RH per ASTM D570, moisture absorption is 0.22%, indicating stability in humid conditions.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: As per ASTM D955, linear mold shrinkage measures 0.022 cm/cm (0.022 in/in) for molded parts.
  • Melt Flow: Tested by ASTM D1238, the melt flow rate is 2.5 g/10 min, reflecting the material’s flow behavior during processing.

Polymer Properties:

  1. Base Material: Polyoxymethylene (POM)
  2. Modification Features:
    • Well – suited for extrusion and injection molding of thick – walled products.
    • Good processability in extrusion and injection molding processes.
    • High chemical resistance, stable in various chemical environments.
    • Good thermal stability, maintaining performance under different temperatures.

Applications:

  • Extruded Products:
KOCETAL K100’s high viscosity makes it particularly suitable for extrusion processes, enabling the production of thick-walled components such as:
    • Rods, Pipes, and Tubes: Used in industrial applications like fluid handling systems, where dimensional stability and low moisture absorption are critical.
    • Sheets: Employed in construction and manufacturing for panels or structural components requiring high rigidity and wear resistance.
  • Injection Molding for Thick-Walled Components:
KOCETAL K100 is optimized for injection molding of thick products due to its high viscosity and good flow characteristics. Applications include:
    • Automotive Components: Used in parts like fuel system components, interior trim, and structural supports, where high rigidity and wear resistance are essential.
    • Industrial Machinery Parts: Suitable for manufacturing rollers, bushings, and other components that require high hardness and wear resistance.
  • Engineering Plastics Applications:
Due to its high crystallinity, good mechanical properties, and resistance to friction, wear, and chemicals, KOCETAL K100 is widely used in engineering plastics applications, including:
    • Gears and Rollers: The material’s high rigidity and wear resistance make it ideal for gears and rollers in office equipment and industrial machinery.
    • Electrical and Electronic Components: Used in housings and connectors due to its low moisture absorption and dimensional stability, ensuring reliable performance in humid or variable environments.
    • Agricultural and Construction Equipment: Applied in components requiring durability and resistance to environmental stress, such as fittings and structural parts.
  • Processing Advantages:
KOCETAL K100 offers excellent processability, supporting its wide range of applications:
    • Low Water Absorption: With only 0.22% moisture absorption, it can be used without predrying in many cases, though drying at 80°C for 3 hours is recommended when appearance or dimensional accuracy is critical.
    • Regrind Compatibility: Up to 30% regrind resin can be used without significant loss of mechanical properties, making it cost-effective for large-scale production.
    • Thermal Processing Guidelines: Injection molding temperatures should be set between 165°C and 220°C to avoid thermal decomposition and formaldehyde gas generation.
