Kolon KOCETAL K900 HOT Sale POM Resin

Kolon KOCETAL® K900 is a very low viscosity polyoxymethylene (POM) copolymer grade manufactured by Kolon Plastics (Kolon Industries).

Physical Properties

  • Specific Gravity: As determined by ASTM D792, the specific gravity is 1.41 g/cc, showing consistency between metric and English units.
  • Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: At 60% RH per ASTM D570, moisture absorption is 0.22%, indicating stability in moderately humid conditions.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: Per ASTM D955, linear mold shrinkage measures 0.020 cm/cm (0.020 in/in), critical for ensuring dimensional precision in molded products.
  • Melt Flow: Tested via ASTM D1238, the melt flow rate is 42 g/10 min, reflecting excellent flowability and suitability for high-speed manufacturing processes.

Polymer Properties:

  1. Base Material: Polyoxymethylene (POM)
  2. Modification Features:
    • Extremely low viscosity enables easy flow for thin-walled and large-part production.
    • Reduces injection pressure, benefits complex molds, and ensures dimensional stability.

Applications:

  1. Automotive Components
    • KOCETAL® K900 is widely used in the automotive industry for small, intricate parts requiring high precision and durability. Its low viscosity allows it to fill complex molds, making it suitable for:
      • Connectors and Clips: Used in wiring harnesses and interior assemblies, where thin walls and precise tolerances are required. The material’s high flowability ensures defect-free parts with minimal warpage.
      • Fuel System Components: Its chemical resistance makes it suitable for small parts in fuel lines or pump components, resisting exposure to fuels and lubricants.
      • Interior Trim Parts: Thin-walled decorative or functional components, such as buttons or sliders, benefit from KOCETAL® K900’s excellent surface finish and dimensional stability.
    • Data Evidence: According to Kolon Plastics, KOCETAL® K900 is optimized for thin and large products, with a very low viscosity grade that supports high-precision injection molding.
  2. Electrical and Electronic Components
    • The electronics industry leverages KOCETAL® K900 for small, high-precision components due to its excellent electrical insulation properties and ability to form thin-walled parts.
      • Micro Connectors: Used in circuit boards and electronic devices, where intricate designs require high flowability to achieve tight tolerances.
      • Switch and Sensor Housings: The material’s dimensional stability ensures consistent performance in small housings for sensors or micro-switches.
      • Insulating Components: Its electrical properties, including a dielectric strength of approximately 20 kV/mm, make it suitable for insulating parts in electronic assemblies.
    • Data Evidence: The Material Data Center highlights KOCETAL® K900’s suitability for injection molding with precise processing recommendations, ensuring defect-free electrical components. Its low viscosity allows for a mold filling time reduction of up to 20% compared to standard POM grades, critical for micro-electronic parts.
  3. Consumer Goods
    • KOCETAL® K900 is used in consumer products that require small, durable, and aesthetically pleasing components.
      • Precision Gears and Rollers: Its high wear resistance and low friction coefficient (approximately 0.2–0.3) make it ideal for small gears in appliances like coffee makers or electric shavers.
      • Fasteners and Clips: Used in household items, such as zippers or clips, where thin-section molding ensures lightweight yet strong parts.
      • Cosmetic Packaging: The material’s smooth surface finish and ability to form intricate shapes are perfect for components like lipstick cases or perfume pump parts.
    • Data Evidence: KOCETAL® K900’s high crystallinity contributes to a surface hardness of around 80–85 Shore D, ensuring scratch resistance in consumer goods. Its low viscosity also reduces cycle times in injection molding by approximately 15–20%, improving production efficiency for high-volume consumer products.
