Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Polyamide 66 (PA66)
- Reinforcement: 30% Short Glass Fiber
- Key Properties and Benefits
- Excellent Hydrolysis Resistance: This is the primary feature of the HR grade.
- It retains its mechanical properties even after prolonged exposure to hot water and glycol-based coolants, which can degrade standard PA66.
- This property is essential for automotive cooling systems.
- High Rigidity and Strength: The 30% glass fiber reinforcement provides a high modulus of elasticity and tensile strength, similar to other A3HG6 grades.
- Superior Heat Resistance: PA66 has a high melting point, and the glass fiber reinforcement further improves its heat deflection temperature.
- Good Chemical Resistance: The material offers good resistance to a wide range of chemicals, including oils, greases, and automotive fluids.
- Excellent Hydrolysis Resistance: This is the primary feature of the HR grade.
Applications:
Due to its unique combination of heat resistance and hydrolysis resistance, ULTRAMID A3HG6 HR is a go-to material for demanding applications in the automotive and plumbing industries.
- Automotive Cooling Systems: This is the most common and critical application. The material is used for components in direct contact with hot coolant.
- Radiator end tanks: The HR grade is specifically designed for this application to withstand the constant exposure to hot coolant.
- Coolant pipes and manifolds: Used for carrying hot coolant throughout the engine bay.
- Thermostat housings: Components that need to maintain their integrity and dimensional stability in a high-temperature liquid environment.
- Plumbing and Heating Systems: Its hydrolysis resistance also makes it suitable for some applications in commercial and industrial plumbing.
- Hot & cold water plumbing fittings: Used for fittings that need to be durable and resistant to water degradation over time.
- Radiator pipes: The pipes that carry hot water in heating systems.
