  • Water Absorption at Saturation: Based on ISO 62 standard, the water absorption at saturation ranges from 4.7 – 5.3%.
  • Viscosity Measurement: The viscosity measurement, carried out following ISO 307, gives a value of 160.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: For restricted samples, the linear mold shrinkage is 0.0055 cm/cm (0.0055 in/in).
  • Melt Flow: In line with ISO 1133, at 275 °C (527 °F) under a 5.00 kg (11.0 lb) load, the melt flow is 19.95 g/10 min.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: Polyamide 66 (PA66)
  • Reinforcement: 30% Short Glass Fiber
  • Key Features and Properties:
    • Enhanced Hydrolysis Resistance: The primary distinguishing feature of Ultramid A3ZG6 is its superior long-term performance in hot, moist environments.
    • High Mechanical Strength and Rigidity: The 30% glass fiber reinforcement provides excellent mechanical properties.
    • Superior Heat Resistance: This material offers excellent thermal stability, with a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of approximately 255 °C under a load of 1.82 MPa (ISO 75-2).
    • Excellent Dimensional Stability: The high glass fiber content ensures excellent dimensional stability and low warpage。
    • Good Chemical Resistance: In addition to its hydrolysis resistance, the material also exhibits good resistance to other automotive fluids, oils, and greases.

Applications:

  • Automotive Industry: Widely used in automotive underhoods and structural components. Its high stiffness and high-temperature resistance are crucial for these applications.
    • Hoods and Brackets: Able to withstand sustained operating temperatures up to 200°C, it is also resistant to automotive fluids such as motor oil and coolant, making it ideal for engine components.
    • Intake Manifolds: The material’s high strength and dimensional stability under thermal cycling are crucial for intake manifolds, which are subject to severe temperature fluctuations and pressure.
    • Structural Components: ULTRAMID A3ZG6 is suitable for front-end brackets and other structural components requiring high stiffness to absorb crash energy and maintain structural integrity.
  • Electrical and Electronics Industry: The material’s good electrical insulation properties and heat resistance make it suitable for a variety of electrical and electronic components.
    • Switchgear and Connectors: ULTRAMID A3ZG6 offers high tracking resistance and excellent dielectric strength.
    • Motor Components: A3ZG6’s thermal stability makes it suitable for motor components such as motor housings and coil formers.
  • Mechanical and Industrial Engineering: This PA66 grade is also a top choice for a variety of high-performance, general industrial applications.
    • Bearings and Gears: While not a self-lubricating grade, ULTRAMID A3ZG6 can be used for gears and bearings requiring high load capacity and wear resistance, typically with a lubricant.
    • Machine Housings and Power Tool Components: Its combination of impact resistance and high rigidity makes it suitable for power tool housings and other machine components subject to rough handling and operational stresses.
