DUPONT DELRIN 527UV POM Resin
DUPONT Delrin 527UV is a UV – stabilized, medium – viscosity POM by DuPont, offering excellent UV resistance for outdoor applications.
Physical Properties
- Density: Determined by the ISO 1183 standard, the 1.42 g/cc (0.0513 lb/in³) density is useful for calculating material volume – mass relationships in product design.
- Water Absorption: Absorbing 0.50 % in 86400 seconds and 1.2 % at 2.00 mm thickness (Sim. to ISO 62), it may cause dimensional changes in products.
- Moisture Absorption: At 2.00 mm thickness, the 0.200 % moisture absorption affects the long – term performance of the material.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage: Measured by ISO 294 – 4 and 2577, it is 0.020 cm/cm in the flow direction and 0.019 cm/cm transversely, crucial for accurate mold design.
- Melt Flow: Measured by ISO 1133 at 190 °C under a 2.16 kg load, the melt flow rates are 13 g/10 min (in cm³/10 min) and 15 g/10 min.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Polyoxymethylene (POM)
- Key Features
- UV stabilization for strong resistance to ultraviolet radiation.
- Maintains excellent mechanical qualities like high strength, impact resistance, and stiffness after long – term UV exposure.
- Higher thermal stability compared to some other POM grades.
Applications:
- Automotive: Used for exterior mirror housings and trim, protecting against UV – caused fading and cracking in various weather conditions.
- Outdoor Equipment: Ideal for garden tool handles and lawnmower components, ensuring long – lasting use under sunlight exposure.
- Marine: Employed in boat deck fittings and railings, resisting UV and saltwater damage for reliable performance.
- Solar Energy: Applied to solar panel mounting brackets, maintaining dimensional stability in continuous sunlight.
