CELANESE CELCON M25UV POM Resin

Celanese Celcon M25UV is a natural UV – stabilized, low – flow, high – molecular – weight acetal copolymer by Celanese.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Determined by ISO 1183, the material has a density of 1.41 g/cc (metric) and 0.0509 lb/in³ (English), indicating mass per unit volume.
  • Moisture Absorption: Under 23°C and 50%RH as per ISO 62, the material absorbs 0.200 % moisture, showing its water – uptake capacity.
  • Water Absorption at Saturation: Based on ISO 62, the material reaches 0.75 % water absorption when fully saturated, key for wet – use applications.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage, Flow: According to ISO 294 – 4, the flow – direction shrinkage is 0.022 cm/cm (0.022 in/in), crucial for mold design.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage, Transverse: As per ISO 294 – 4, the transverse shrinkage is 0.018 cm/cm (0.018 in/in), ensuring part dimensional accuracy.
  • Melt Flow: At 2.16 kg load and 190 °C per ISO 1133, the melt flow rate is 2.2 g/10 min, defining its molding fluidity.

Polymer Properties:

  1. Base Material: Acetal Copolymer (Polyoxymethylene – POM)
  2. Key Features & Characteristics:
    • Natural UV – stabilization ensures long – term resistance to sunlight without discoloration.
    • High – molecular – weight design contributes to enhanced toughness and durability.

Applications:

The combination of UV resistance, high strength, and dimensional stability makes Celcon M25UV a leading material for a variety of outdoor and long-life applications.

  • Automotive Exterior Parts: Ideal for components like door handles, trim clips, and fuel caps that are exposed to sunlight and outdoor elements.
  • Outdoor Consumer Goods: Suitable for parts in garden furniture, playground equipment, and sporting goods where UV stability is critical.
  • Industrial Components: Used for exposed parts in machinery, gear wheels, and control handles that require durability and resistance to environmental factors.
  • Electrical and Electronic Parts: Employed in outdoor electrical connectors and housings where long-term performance and UV protection are essential.

Processing Guidelines

Celcon M25UV is optimized for injection molding. Proper drying is crucial to ensure optimal processing and part quality.

  • Drying: Although POM has very low moisture absorption, it is recommended to dry the material at 80°C for 3 hours to remove any surface moisture.
  • Melt Temperature: 190-210°C
  • Mold Temperature: 60-90°C
