BASF Ultraform N2640 E4 POM Resin

BASF Ultraform N2640 E4 POM is an elastomer – modified injection – molding grade renowned for its high toughness and high weld line strength.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Measured per ISO 1183, the density is 1.30 g/cc (0.0470 lb/in³), indicating a moderately lightweight structure for versatile applications.
  • Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: At 23°C and 50% RH (ISO 62), equilibrium moisture absorption is 0.20%, ensuring minimal swelling and dimensional stability.
  • Water Absorption at Saturation: Tested via ISO 62, saturation water absorption is 0.90%, showing moderate moisture tolerance for indoor use conditions.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage, Flow: Determined by ISO 2577, flow-direction shrinkage is 0.018 cm/cm (0.018 in/in), reflecting consistent contraction along the material flow path.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage, Transverse: Per ISO 2577, transverse shrinkage is 0.018 cm/cm (0.018 in/in), demonstrating uniform dimensional change across molding directions.
  • Melt Flow: As per ISO 1133 at 190°C (374°F) under 2.16 kg (4.76 lb), the melt flow rate is 3.9 g/10 min, indicating stable processability for low-flow molding requirements.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: Polyoxymethylene (POM)
  • Key Characteristics
    • High Impact Strength: Significantly improved resistance to sudden impacts and blows, especially at low temperatures.
    • Dimensional Stability: Produces moldings with low warpage, maintaining precise dimensions.
    • Good Long-Term Thermal Stability: Maintains mechanical properties over a broad temperature range.
