BASF Ultraform N2650 Z6 POM Resin
BASF Ultraform N2650 Z6 POM + PUR is an elastomer – modified injection molding grade offering the highest impact strength with low stiffness.
Physical Properties
- Bulk Density: It is 0.850 g/cc (0.0307 lb/in³). This value affects how the material is handled, stored, and transported in its un – processed form.
- Density: Measured by ISO 1183, the density is 1.33 g/cc (0.0480 lb/in³). It is used to estimate the weight of products and can influence the material’s mechanical and physical performance.
- Water Absorption: According to ISO 62, it is 0.80 %. Water absorption can have a significant impact on the material’s performance, especially in applications involving water or high humidity.
- Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: Based on ISO 62, it is 0.20 %. Understanding this value helps in predicting the material’s behavior in different environmental conditions over time.
- Melt Flow: Tested as per ISO 1133, at 190 °C (374 °F) under a 2.16 kg (4.76 lb) load, the melt flow rate is 9.31 g/10 min. It affects the ease of processing during injection molding for high – impact – strength applications.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Polyoxymethylene (POM) + PUR
- Modification Features:
- Elastomer – modified to achieve the highest impact strength
- Formulated for injection molding with low stiffness characteristics
- Engineered to balance high impact resistance and low rigidity
Applications:
- Automotive: Perfect for automotive parts like bumpers and interior trim pieces that need to absorb impacts while maintaining flexibility and low stiffness to reduce stress concentrations.
- Sports Equipment: Used in manufacturing sports gear components where high impact strength and low stiffness are crucial for shock absorption and user comfort, such as handles and guards.
- Consumer Goods: Ideal for products like tool housings or mobile device cases, providing protection against drops and impacts while allowing for a more ergonomic and flexible design due to its low stiffness.
