SABIC LEXAN™ PC1000R is a medium-low flow, heat-stabilized polycarbonate resin designed for general-purpose injection molding.

Physical Properties

  • Specific Gravity: As per ASTM D792, the material’s specific gravity is 1.20 g/cc, matching both metric and English units.
  • Density: Measured via ISO 1183, the density is 1.20 g/cc (0.0434 lb/in³), indicating a dense composition for structural applications.
  • Water Absorption: At 23°C/saturation (ISO 62), water absorption is 0.35%, showing low hygroscopicity for stability in humid environments.
  • Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: Per ASTM D570, equilibrium moisture absorption is 0.35%, consistent with water absorption data.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage, Flow: Per SABIC method, shrinkage is 0.0050–0.0070 cm/cm (0.0050–0.0070 in/in), measured at 3.20 mm (0.126 in) thickness.
  • Melt Flow (ISO 1133): At 300 °C (572 °F) under 1.20 kg (2.65 lb), the melt flow rate is 9.0 cm³/10 min per ISO 1133 standards.
  • Melt Flow (ASTM D1238): As per ASTM D1238, the rate is 10 g/10 min under the same temperature and load conditions.
