Chevron Phillips Marlex K606 HDPE Resin

Chevron Phillips Marlex K606, manufactured by Chevron Phillips Chemical, is a high molecular weight, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Tested by ASTM D1505, the density is 0.964 g/cc (0.0348 lb/in³), which impacts its stiffness and strength.
  • ESCR 100% Igepal®: Tested under Condition A (F50) following ASTM D1693, it is 15 hours, indicating its stress – crack resistance level.
  • Melt Flow: Measured under 190/2.16 per ASTM D1238, it is 0.65 g/10 min, influencing extrusion process stability.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: High – Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
  • Key Features:
    • Extrusion – grade homopolymer for stable processing.
    • High stiffness for structural applications.
    • High specific gravity offers substantial mass and stability to the products.
    • Good moldability enables easy and efficient manufacturing of various shapes.
    • Durable for long – term use in different environments.

Applications:

The combination of high melt strength and robust mechanical properties makes Marlex® K606 a primary choice for a variety of blow molding applications. Its typical uses include:

  • Large Parts: It’s commonly used for blow molding large containers and parts where a balance of stiffness and impact strength is required.
  • Bottles: It is an excellent material for bottles used for household and industrial chemicals, such as detergents, bleach, and cleaning agents.
  • Containers: The resin is used to produce containers that need to withstand rough handling and be resistant to the chemicals they hold.
