SABIC P6006LS HDPE Multimodal Resin
SABIC P6006LS is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin with a multimodal molecular weight distribution, specifically engineered for pipe extrusion.
Physical Properties
- Density: Determined by the ASTM D1505 standard, the density is 0.960 g/cc (0.0347 lb/in³). This high – density characteristic is beneficial for pressure pipe low – sagging applications.
- Oxidative Induction Time (OIT): Based on the EN 728 standard, at 210 °C (410 °F), the OIT is 20 minutes. It indicates a certain level of oxidation resistance for pressure pipes.
- Carbon Black Loading: Measured by the ISO 6964 standard, the carbon black loading is 2.25%. It protects against UV degradation for large – diameter and low – SDR pressure pipes.
- Melt Flow: As per the ISO 1133 standard, at 190 °C (374 °F), it’s 0.23 g/10 min under a 5.00 kg load and 6.4 g/10 min under a 21.6 kg load. These values ensure proper processing for low – sagging pressure pipes.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
- Key Characteristics:
- Black compound for low – sag pressure pipe applications.
- Classified as PE112 for large – diameter and low – SDR pipes.
Applications:
SABIC P6006LS is a trusted and safe solution for a variety of critical pressure pipe applications, particularly where large-diameter pipes are required:
- Large-Diameter Water Transmission Pipes
- The low-sag property makes P6006LS ideal for extruding large, thick-walled pipes used in municipal and industrial water transmission networks.
- Its long-term hydrostatic strength ensures these vital pipelines have a long service life.
- Natural Gas Distribution Networks
- The high resistance to RCP and long-term strength make it a top choice for gas pipelines.
- The material’s durability ensures safety and prevents gas leaks over decades of use, even in challenging environments.
- Industrial and Process Piping:SABIC P6006LS is also used for pipes transporting various industrial fluids and chemicals.
- Its excellent chemical resistance and high pressure rating are key advantages in these demanding industrial environments.
- The low-sag feature is particularly useful for extruding large pipes for plant infrastructure.
