DUPONT ZYTEL E42A PA66 Resin
DuPont Zytel E42A PA66 is an unreinforced, high-viscosity polyamide 66 (PA66) that is specifically engineered for extrusion and blow molding processes.
Physical Properties
- Density: Evaluated by DAM and ISO 1183 for unreinforced, high-viscosity PA66; density is 1.14 g/cc (0.0412 lb/in³).
- Melt Density: At ≥263 °C (505 °F), melt density is 1.01 g/cc (0.0365 lb/in³), designed for extrusion applications.
- Water Absorption: At 2.00 mm (0.0787 in) thickness, water absorption is 8.5%, per DAM and ISO 62 for high-viscosity grades.
- Moisture Absorption: For 2.00 mm (0.0787 in) samples, moisture absorption is 2.70%, following DAM and ISO 62 standards.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage: Both flow and transverse directions show 0.014 cm/cm (0.014 in/in) per DAM and ISO 294-4, 2577.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Polyamide 66 (PA66)
- Key Features and Properties:
- High Melt Viscosity: The defining feature of Zytel E42A is its high melt viscosity, which is essential for stable extrusion and blow molding.
- Excellent Toughness and Flexibility: As an unreinforced material, E42A provides superior toughness and impact resistance.
- Good Mechanical Properties: While not as stiff as reinforced grades, it offers a solid balance of mechanical properties.
- Good Heat Resistance: It has a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of approximately 90 °C under a load of 1.82 MPa (ISO 75-2) when dry.
Applications:
- Industrial Equipment: Extruded profiles, pipes, and structural sheets for construction, packaging, and manufacturing systems.
- Packaging & Textiles: High-strength films, monofilaments, and semi-finished products processed via extrusion.
- Automotive Industry: Zytel E42A is used for applications that require a tough, flexible, and chemically resistant material, often produced by extrusion or blow molding.
