SABIC LEXAN™ 141R is a medium-viscosity polycarbonate resin with a melt volume-flow rate , featuring internal mold release for injection molding.
Physical Properties
- Specific Gravity: Determined according to ASTM D792 using injection-molded samples, the specific gravity is 1.20 g/cc (dimensionless, relative to water).
- Density: Measured per ASTM D792, the density is 1.19 g/cc (0.0430 lb/in³), reflecting the material’s mass-to-volume ratio.
- Water Absorption: Tested per ASTM D570 via 24-hour immersion, water absorption is 0.15%, indicating low moisture uptake under standard conditions.
- Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: Per ASTM D570, equilibrium moisture absorption is 0.35% under normal conditions and 0.58% at 100°C (212°F), showing temperature-dependent hygroscopicity.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage, Flow: For 3.20 mm (0.126 in) thick injection-molded plaques per the SABIC method, flow shrinkage ranges 0.0050–0.0070 cm/cm (in/in).
- Melt Flow: Measured per ASTM D1238 at 300°C (572°F) under 1.20 kg (2.65 lb) load, the melt flow rate is 10.5 g/10 min, indicating processability for molding.
