Physical Properties

• Density: Measured per ASTM D1505, it’s 0.918 g/cc (0.0332 lb/in³). This density gives the resin good flexibility, making it fit for general – purpose packaging applications.
• Melt Flow: Tested by ASTM D1238 at 2.16 kg load, 190 °C, it’s 2.0 g/10 min. It indicates easy processing, allowing for smooth production of packaging films.

  • Free of TNPP, allowing for straightforward processing.
  • Exhibits favorable tensile, impact strength, and optical characteristics.

Applications:

SABIC 218NJ is primarily used in film applications where its combination of toughness and processability is beneficial. The resin is well-suited for producing a variety of products through blown film extrusion.

• Lamination Films: Its good tensile and optical properties make it a strong candidate for use as a layer in multi-layer films for packaging.
• Thin Liners: The resin can be used to create thin, protective liners for various products or containers.
• Carrier Bags and Shopping Bags: Its good impact and tear resistance make it an ideal material for producing durable shopping and carrier bags.
• Garbage Bags: The toughness and puncture resistance of the material are well-suited for manufacturing strong, reliable garbage bags.
• Coextruded Films: SABIC 218NJ can be combined with other polymers in a coextrusion process to create films with enhanced barrier properties or other specialized characteristics.
• Consumer Packaging: It is a suitable resin for a broad range of consumer packaging applications, especially where general-purpose film properties are required.
