NatureWorks 3D870 Hot Sale PLA Resin

NatureWorks Ingeo™ 3D870 is a polylactic acid (PLA) resin from NatureWorks LLC designed for 3D printing filament.

Physical Properties

  • Specific Gravity: Measured following ASTM D792 standard, the specific gravity of NatureWorks 3D870 is 1.22 g/cc (1.22 g/cc in English units).
  • Melt Flow: According to ASTM D1238, at a load of 2.16 kg (4.76 lb) and a temperature of 210 °C (410 °F), the melt flow rate ranges from 9.00 – 15.0 g/10 min.

Polymer Properties:

  1. Base Material: PLA (Polylactide)
  2. Key Features & Characteristics:
    • Significantly Improved Impact Resistance: Produces parts that are less brittle and more durable, a key advantage over conventional PLA.
    • Excellent Printability: Offers stable and consistent extrusion with minimal warping, ensuring reliable and high-quality prints.
    • Good Heat Performance: Provides a higher level of heat resistance than standard PLA, making it suitable for a wider range of functional applications.
    • Easy Post-Processing: The material’s properties allow for simple annealing to further enhance thermal and mechanical performance.

Applications:

NatureWorks 3D870 is formulated for applications that demand both durability and improved heat resistance. It is an excellent choice for a variety of functional and aesthetic parts, including:

  • Functional Prototypes: The enhanced impact strength and thermal properties make it ideal for creating prototypes that need to withstand real-world testing.
  • Jigs, Fixtures, and Tooling: Its strength and stiffness are well-suited for producing custom manufacturing aids and tools.
  • Durable Consumer Goods: The material is an excellent option for toys, phone cases, and other consumer products where robustness is a key requirement.
  • Electronic Housings: The ability to withstand higher temperatures after annealing makes it a good fit for enclosures for electronic devices.

Processing Guidelines

NatureWorks 3D870 is designed for consistent and reliable printing on a variety of FDM/FFF 3D printers.

  • Recommended Print Temperature: 190°C – 220°C
  • Recommended Bed Temperature: 20°C – 60°C (heated bed is optional but recommended)
  • Drying: The resin should be dried to a moisture content of <250 ppm before processing to prevent hydrolysis. Recommended drying conditions are 4 hours at 40°C.
  • Annealing: For optimal heat resistance and mechanical performance, anneal printed parts by baking them at 110°C for 10-20 minutes.
