DUPONT DELRIN 511P POM Resin
DUPONT Delrin 511P is a POM by DuPont with improved thermal stability and precision molding for auto, electronics and industrial uses.
Physical Properties
- Specific Gravity: Measured by the ASTM D792 standard, the specific gravity of 1.42 g/cc is useful for comparing the material’s density with others in material selection.
- Density: According to the ISO 1183 standard, the density is 1.42 g/cc (0.0513 lb/in³), consistent with the specific gravity, which helps estimate material quantity.
- Water Absorption: Absorbing 0.30 % at 23.0 °C after 24 – hour immersion and 0.90 % at saturation, it influences product performance in humid conditions.
- Moisture Absorption: At 23.0 °C and 50% RH equilibrium, the 0.20 % moisture absorption affects the long – term stability of the material.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage: Varying from 0.015 – 0.020 cm/cm depending on thickness and direction as per ASTM D955 and ISO 294 – 4, it is crucial for mold design to ensure product accuracy.
- Melt Flow: Measured by ASTM D1238 at 190 °C under a 1.05 kg load, it is 7.0 g/10 min, and by ISO 1133 at 190 °C under a 2.16 kg load, it is 15 g/10 min, showing melt fluidity.
- Melt Index of Compound: At 190 °C under 2.16 kg load, it’s 13 g/10 min (cm3/10 min, ISO 1133), indicating compound’s flow characteristics.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Polyoxymethylene (POM)
- Key Features & Characteristics:
- Formulated for enhanced impact resistance, outperforming standard POM grades in shock/drop tolerance.
