Key Features

  • High Mechanical Strength and Stiffness: The 43% glass fiber reinforcement significantly enhances the material's rigidity and load-bearing capabilities, making it suitable for components subjected to high stress.
  • Excellent Thermal Resistance: As a heat-stabilized grade, Zytel® 70G43HSLA maintains its properties at elevated temperatures, ensuring reliable performance in thermally challenging environments.
  • Outstanding Toughness: Despite its high stiffness, this material offers a good balance of toughness and impact resistance, crucial for parts that may experience sudden loads or vibrations.
  • Good Chemical and Abrasion Resistance: Zytel® 70G43HSLA exhibits resistance to a wide range of chemicals, oils, and abrasive wear, contributing to its durability in harsh operating conditions.
  • Processability: Designed for injection molding, this grade offers good melt stability and consistent processing characteristics.

Typical Applications

  • Automotive: Its high strength and temperature resistance make it ideal for under-the-hood components such as engine covers, air intake manifolds, and transmission parts. It is also used for high-load brackets and structural components.
  • Industrial: This grade is well-suited for heavy machinery parts, durable power tool housings, and components in conveyor systems that require both strength and heat resistance.
  • Electrical and Electronics: Its good electrical properties and high-temperature performance allow for its use in connectors, terminal blocks, and other insulating parts.
  • Consumer and Sporting Goods: The material's durability and strength are leveraged in high-performance sporting equipment and robust appliance components.

Processing Guidelines

To achieve optimal performance and part quality, the following processing parameters are recommended for Zytel® 70G43HSLA:

  • Drying: It is crucial to properly dry the material before processing. Recommended drying temperature is 80°C for 2-4 hours in a desiccant dryer to achieve a moisture content of less than 0.2%.
  • Melt Temperature: A melt temperature range of 285°C to 305°C is recommended.
  • Mold Temperature: A mold surface temperature between 70°C and 120°C is suggested. A higher mold temperature will generally result in a better surface finish and improved dimensional stability.
  • Injection Pressure: A holding pressure of 50 to 100 MPa is typically used.
