INEOS Styrolution 8265 Hot Sale HIPS Resin

INEOS Styrolution 8265 is an extrusion/thermoformable HIPS grade produced by INEOS, suitable for HB-rated applications like refrigerator liners.

Physical Properties

  • Density: As per ISO 1183, the density is 1.04 g/cm³, a fundamental metric for assessing material consistency and suitability for specific applications.
  • Shrinkage: Tested according to ISO 294, the shrinkage ranges from 0.4% to 0.7%, crucial data for predicting dimensional changes in molded components.
  • Water Absorption 23°C Saturation: Measured via ISO 62, water absorption is 0.06%, indicating material resistance to moisture uptake under full immersion.
  • Melt Index 200°C 5kg: Per ISO 1133, the melt index is 3.5 g/10 min, reflecting the material’s flow characteristics during high-temperature processing.
  • Melt Index 200°C 5kg: Also per ISO 1133, the melt volume rate is 3.1 cm³/10 min, providing an alternative measure of flowability for precision molding.
  • Bulk Density Without External Lubricant: By INTERNAL METHOD, bulk density 0.6 g/cm³ assesses material handling and storage needs.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: HIPS
  • Modification Features:
    • Optimized for extrusion and thermoforming processes to create large, thin-walled parts.
    • HB flammability rating ensures safety in food packaging and appliance applications.
    • Good impact resistance and rigidity for refrigerator inner liners and thermoformed sheets.

Applications:

  1. Refrigerator and Freezer Liners
    • This is the most significant application for INEOS Styrolution 8265.
    • The resin is specifically formulated to withstand the cold temperatures and constant exposure to food, oils, and cleaning agents found inside a refrigerator.
    • The high ESCR is a critical feature, preventing the liners from cracking or becoming brittle over time.
  2. Food Packaging and Containers
    • The high ESCR and good low-temperature properties also make Styrolution 8265 a great choice for food packaging, particularly thermoformed trays and containers that hold fatty or oily foods.
    • It provides structural integrity and prevents potential leaks or cracks that could occur during shipping and handling.
  3. General Extrusion and Thermoforming
    • Beyond refrigeration and food, Styrolution 8265’s balanced properties make it a solid choice for other extruded sheet and thermoformed products.
    • This includes products that may be exposed to chemicals or require a high degree of toughness.
