SABIC 8611A Short Glass Modified PP Resin
SABIC 8611A Short Glass Modified PP is a short glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (PP) polymer produced by SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation).
Physical Properties
- Density: Measured following ISO 1183, it’s 0.960 g/cc, making it lightweight and suitable for specific applications.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage: Determined by the SABIC method for 65x65x3.2mm plaques, the shrinkage is 0.0095 cm/cm for precise parts.
- Melt Flow: Based on ISO 1133, at 230°C under 2.16 kg load, the melt flow of 34 g/10 min aids easy molding.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Polypropylene (PP)
- Reinforcement: Short Glass Fiber
- Key Features & Characteristics:
- The incorporation of short glass fibers significantly enhances the material’s flexural modulus.
- This grade has a high heat deflection temperature, which allows it to maintain its mechanical performance and structural integrity in high-temperature environments.
- The glass fiber reinforcement reduces linear mold shrinkage and minimizes warpage, helping to produce parts with precise, consistent dimensions.
- Despite the glass fiber content, this material is easy to process via injection molding, allowing for consistent part quality and good fill rates, even for complex geometries.
Applications:
The combination of high stiffness, heat resistance, and dimensional stability makes SABIC 8611A a solid choice for a variety of structural and functional applications, especially in the automotive and industrial sectors.
- Automotive Parts: This material is commonly used for under-the-hood components, automotive trim panels, and dashboard panels that require high rigidity and thermal stability.
- Appliance Housings: Ideal for housings of appliances like washing machines or vacuum cleaners where a rigid, durable casing is necessary to protect internal components.
- Power Tool Casings: Suitable for parts that require high strength and rigidity to withstand stress and protect the motor and other internal mechanisms.
