Asahi Kasei TENAC™-C 9520 Hot Sale POM Resin

Asahi Kasei’s TENAC™-C 9520 is a low-viscosity polyacetal (POM) copolymer resin designed for applications requiring excellent flowability, mechanical strength, and durability.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Measured using ASTM D792 and ISO 1183 standards, the material’s density is 1.41 g/cm³, reflecting its compact molecular structure.
  • Shrinkage – Flow: Determined by an internal method, the flow shrinkage ranges from 1.6% to 2.0%, indicating moderate dimensional change during molding.
  • Water Absorption (23°C, 50% RH, 24hr): Tested per ASTM D570, the water absorption rate is 0.2%, showing low hygroscopicity and good moisture resistance.
  • Melt Index (190°C, 2.16kg): As specified in ISO 1133, the melt index is 70 g/10min, suggesting good processability at the tested temperature and load.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: Polyoxymethylene (POM) Copolymer
  • Modification Features:
    • Low-viscosity grade for easy flow in injection molding.
    • HB flame retardancy rating with RoHS/UL compliance.
    • High flowability enables complex part fabrication.
    • Balanced mechanical properties for structural applications.

Applications:

  1.  Automotive Industry
TENAC™-C 9520 is widely used in automotive applications due to its excellent sliding properties, low friction, and resistance to oils and organic solvents. Its low-viscosity nature ensures high precision in molding complex parts, making it ideal for:
    • Gears and Mechanical Components: The resin’s high flowability and durability make it suitable for gears in motors driving doors, wipers, and seats, where creep resistance and long-term durability under heavy loads are critical.
    • Seatbelt Components: Used in seatbelt buckle buttons and center pillar coatings, TENAC™-C 9520 provides impact resistance, weather resistance, and low VOC emissions (<2 ppm), contributing to improved cabin air quality.
    • Interior Fittings: Its dimensional stability and low VOC properties make it a preferred material for automotive interior parts like door handle cases, requiring chemical resistance and light resistance.
  2.  Medical Devices
TENAC™-C 9520’s high flowability and mechanical properties make it suitable for precision medical components, although it is not intended for implantation or direct contact with body fluids or food. Potential applications include:
    • Infusion Pump Guides: The resin’s high friction and abrasion resistance ensure smooth and quiet operation in infusion pump components that interact with medical tubing.
    • Lancets: Its moldability and spring-like characteristics are ideal for lancets used in micro blood sampling, such as for blood glucose monitoring, where precise molding and puncture performance are required.
    • Mechanical Parts in Small Devices: Components like valve parts and gears in insulin pens or asthma inhalers benefit from the resin’s rigidity and low wear properties, ensuring reliable performance over time.
  3. Powder Injection Molding (PIM)
TENAC™-C 9520 is a high-flow copolymer suitable for use as a binder resin in powder injection molding (PIM) for manufacturing small, high-precision metal or ceramic parts.
    • Metal and Ceramic Components: Used in PIM feedstocks, TENAC™-C 9520 supports the production of densely sintered parts without cracking or blistering, improving yield and part quality.
    • Applications: Examples include precision components for electronics, medical devices, or industrial tools where high mechanical strength and formability are required.
  4. Industrial and Consumer Goods
The resin’s balanced mechanical properties and chemical resistance make it versatile for various industrial and consumer applications:
    • Hose Joints and Clips: Its toughness and resistance to organic solvents make it suitable for hose joints and clips in industrial systems, ensuring durability under chemical exposure.
    • Audio and Video Equipment: Mechanical parts like switches and cams in audio/video devices benefit from the resin’s wear resistance and dimensional stability, ensuring smooth operation.
    • Sliding Components: Door rollers for cabinets or sashes, which require constant loading and sliding against metal, leverage the resin’s low friction and durability.
  5. Electrical and Electronic Applications
TENAC™-C 9520’s high flowability and electrical insulation properties make it suitable for electrical contact parts and grounding components:
    • Conductive Resin Substitutes: The resin’s shape flexibility eliminates the need for secondary processing, improving productivity and reducing costs in applications like electrical connectors or grounding parts.
    • Precision Components: Its low viscosity ensures precise molding of small, intricate parts used in electronic devices, maintaining structural integrity under repeated loading.
