BASF ULTRAMID A3EG7 HOT Sale PA66 Resin

BASF ULTRAMID A3EG7 is a high-performance PA66 (polyamide 66) compound reinforced with 35% glass fibers.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Measured with injection – molded samples by ISO 527 – 1A and ISO 1183, it is 1.03 g/cc (0.0372 lb/in³).
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: For 65x65x3.2mm injection – molded plaques, SABIC method gives 0.0070 cm/cm (0.0070 in/in).
  • Melt Flow: Per ISO 1133 at 230 °C (446 °F), 2.16 kg (4.76 lb) load results in 12 g/10 min.
  • Density: According to ISO 1183, it’s 1.41 g/cc, equivalent to 0.0509 lb/in³.
  • Water Absorption: As per ISO 62, it ranges from 4.7 – 5.3 %.
  • Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: At 23°C/50% R.H. by ISO 62, it’s 1.4 – 1.8 %.
  • Viscosity Number: Based on ISO 307, it is 145 cm³/g (1.45 dl/g).
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: It measures 0.0050 cm/cm (0.0050 in/in).
  • Melt Flow: Per ISO 1133 at 275 °C (527 °F), 5.00 kg (11.0 lb) load gives 49.3 g/10 min.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: Polyamide 66 (PA66)
  • Reinforcement: 35% Short Glass Fiber
  • Key Benefits:
    • High Rigidity and Strength: The 35% glass fiber reinforcement provides a high modulus of elasticity and tensile strength.
    • Excellent Heat Resistance: PA66 has a high melting point, and the glass fiber reinforcement further improves its heat deflection temperature.
    • Good Chemical Resistance: PA66 offers good resistance to many chemicals, including oils, greases, and solvents.
    • Dimensional Stability: The glass fibers help to minimize thermal expansion and shrinkage, leading to parts with excellent dimensional stability.

Applications:

Based on its properties, ULTRAMID A3EG7 is commonly used in various industries where high-performance engineering plastics are required.

  • Automotive Industry: Its excellent heat and mechanical resistance make it ideal for under-the-hood components. Examples include:
    • Engine covers and air intake manifolds: These parts need to withstand high temperatures and be resistant to oil and fuel.
    • Cooling system components: The material’s resistance to glycol and heat makes it suitable for radiator end caps and coolant reservoirs.
    • Structural and functional parts: It’s used in pedals, brackets, and other parts that require high strength and stiffness.
  • Industrial and Mechanical Engineering: ULTRAMID A3EG7 is used for components that need to be durable and withstand mechanical stress.
    • Machine parts: Gears, bearings, and rollers can be made from this material due to its strength and abrasion resistance.
    • Power tools: Housings and internal components of power tools benefit from its high impact strength and durability.
  • Electronics and Electrical Engineering: Its good electrical insulation properties combined with mechanical strength make it suitable for various components.
    • Connectors and housings: Used in high-power applications where both mechanical and electrical performance are critical.
    • Circuit breaker components: The material’s flame retardant properties (depending on the specific grade) and mechanical strength are valuable in this application.
