BASF ULTRAMID B3EG5 PA6 Resin
BASF ULTRAMID B3EG5 is a highly popular and widely used PA6 (Polyamide 6) resin. It is an injection molding grade that is reinforced with 25% glass fiber.
Physical Properties
- Bulk Density: Ranges from 0.500–0.800 g/cc (0.0181–0.0289 lb/in³), indicating the material’s bulk mass per unit volume before compaction.
- Density: Measured per ISO 1183, the density is 1.32 g/cc (0.0477 lb/in³), a key parameter for mass-to-volume characterization.
- Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: At 23°C and 50% RH (ISO 62), it ranges 2.1–2.5%, reflecting ambient moisture retention for stability assessment.
- Water Absorption at Saturation: Per ISO 62, it ranges 6.8–7.4%, indicating maximum moisture uptake when fully submerged.
- Viscosity Measurement: At 140 (ISO 307), this value aids in evaluating molecular weight and melt flow behavior during processing.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage: At 0.0035 cm/cm (0.0035 in/in) (restricted), it predicts dimensional changes in molded parts during cooling.
- Melt Flow: Per ISO 1133, the rate is 72.6 g/10 min under 5.00 kg (11.0 lb) load at 275°C (527°F), assessing processability for molding applications.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Polyamide 6 (PA6)
- Reinforcement: 25% Glass Fiber
- Modification Features:
- Boasts high – level mechanical strength and stiffness, capable of withstanding heavy loads.
- Provides excellent heat resistance, making it suitable for applications near heat sources.
