Premium PC/ABS Flame-Retardant Material

BAYBLEND® FR1514 is a flame-retardant, amorphous thermoplastic blend of polycarbonate (PC) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). This material is engineered to provide an excellent balance of properties, combining the high impact strength, heat resistance, and dimensional stability of polycarbonate with the superior processability and toughness of ABS.

Processing Guidelines

This information is provided for general guidance. Optimized processing parameters will depend on the specific part geometry and molding machine.

Drying

Due to the polycarbonate component, BAYBLEND® FR1514 must be dried before processing to prevent hydrolysis, which can lead to part degradation and poor mechanical properties.

Temperature: 80-90°C (176-194°F)
Time: 2-4 hours
Moisture Content: < 0.02%

Molding Conditions

Melt Temperature: 240-260°C (464-500°F)
Mold Temperature: 60-80°C (140-176°F)
Injection Speed: Medium to fast
Injection Pressure: Medium to high

Optimize pressure to fill the part without excessive shear heating.
