FORMOSA GP5500 Hot Sale GPPS Resin

Formosa GP5500 is a high-molecular-weight general purpose GPPS with low monomer residue produced by Formosa.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Determined at 23°C per ASTM D792, the density of injection-molded samples is 1.04 g/cm³, suitable for high-molecular-weight applications.
  • Melt Index: Measured at 200°C under a 5kg load per ASTM D1238, the melt flow rate is 2.6 g/10min, reflecting its high-molecular-weight structure.
  • Monomer Content: Monomer residue is 700 ppm, meeting low-monomer specifications for pharmaceutical packaging and electronic components.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: GPPS (General Purpose Polystyrene)
  • Modification Features:
    • High molecular weight provides enhanced mechanical strength and durability.
    • General-purpose grade suitable for electronics, packaging, and medical applications.
    • Low monomer residue ensures safety for sensitive uses like pharmaceutical packaging.

Applications:

  • Medical and Pharmaceutical Containers
    • GP5500 is used for medical containers and petri dishes due to its excellent clarity and clean processing.
    • Its enhanced thermal stability allows for sterilization processes like autoclaving without significant deformation.
  • PSP Sheets for Food Packaging
    • This grade is a top choice for producing extruded Polystyrene Paper (PSP) sheets used in rigid food packaging.
    • Its high molecular weight ensures the sheets are strong and dimensionally stable, while its clarity and gloss make for an aesthetically pleasing product.
  • Optical and Lighting Applications
    • GP5500 is also used in applications that require superior optical performance, such as light diffusers and display components.
    • Its clarity ensures high light transmission, while its heat resistance prevents yellowing and warping from internal heat sources.
