ExxonMobil HD 7845.30 HDPE Resin

ExxonMobil HD 7845.30 is a high – density polyethylene (HDPE) grade produced by ExxonMobil.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Measured via ExxonMobil Method, the density is 0.958 g/cc (0.0346 lb/in³), influencing film properties like stiffness and barrier performance for structural integrity.
  • Melt Flow: At 2.16 kg load and 190°C (374°F) per ASTM D1238, it is 0.45 g/10 min; low melt flow aids in maintaining film integrity during manufacturing processes.
  • High Load Melt Index: Measured at 21.6 kg load and 190 °C (374 °F) according to ASTM D1238, it is 30 g/10 min.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: High – Density Polyethylene (HDPE).
  • Modification Features
    • Processable on high stalk, pocket extrusion, or cast lines
    • Offers excellent stiffness balance in films
    • High thermal stability ensures good film appearance and recyclability
    • Recommended as a blend component with LLDPE for stiff clear films

Applications:

ExxonMobil™ HD 7845.30 is particularly well-suited for the following applications, where its data-supported properties provide tangible benefits:

  1. Blown and Cast Films for Flexible Packaging:
    • high-performance blown and cast films. Its bimodal nature allows for the manufacturing of films with a superior combination of stiffness and toughness.
      • Downgauging and Enhanced Stiffness: The high modulus of this grade allows for the production of thinner films without compromising on rigidity.
      • Food Packaging: In food packaging applications such as deli wrap, overwrap films, and liners for cereal boxes, it prevents package sagging and provides a good barrier against moisture.
      • Heavy-Duty Bags and Sacks: The excellent tensile strength and toughness of films produced, making them suitable for industrial and consumer applications.
  2. Blend Component for Enhanced Performance
    • ExxonMobil™ HD 7845.30 is highly recommended as a blend component with Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) to produce films with tailored properties.
      • Stiffening Agent :When blended with LLDPE, a typically more flexible material, HD 7845.30 acts as a powerful stiffening agent. This is a critical advantage in applications where the toughness and sealability of LLDPE are desired, but a higher modulus is required for machinability and package integrity.
      • Improved Processability of Blends:The addition of HD 7845.30 to LLDPE can also enhance the processability of the blend, particularly in blown film extrusion. Its thermal stability can lead to better bubble stability at higher output rates, allowing for more efficient production.
  3.  Oriented Film Products
    • suitable candidate for the production of machine direction oriented (MDO) films.
