LyondellBasell HP401H Homopolymer PP Resin
LyondellBasell’s Moplen HP401H is a low-flow polypropylene homopolymer specifically engineered for extrusion and thermoforming.
Physical Properties
- Density: Measured according to Method D and ISO 1183 – 1, the density is 0.900 g/cc (0.0325 lb/in³).
- Melt Flow: As per ISO 1133 – 1, at a temperature of 230 °C (446 °F) under a load of 2.16 kg (4.76 lb), the melt flow rate is 2.2 g/10 min.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material:Polypropylene (PP)
- Modification Features
- Low flow homopolymer with conventional molecular weight distribution.
- Incorporates general – purpose additive package.
- Balances hot melt strength during processing and high production rates.
- Delivers good combination of rigidity, clarity and impact performance.
Applications:
Moplen HP401H is primarily used in the production of:
- Thermoformed Food Containers:
- This is a key application for this grade.
- The material’s balanced properties, including good rigidity and impact performance, ensure the final container is durable and can handle the demands of packaging and transport.
- Its suitability for food contact makes it a safe choice for this market.
- Sheet and Profile Extrusion:
- Its low melt flow rate is optimized for creating sheets that will be used in subsequent forming operations.
- The high melt strength allows for high production rates and consistent sheet quality.
- Extrusion Blow Molding: The grade can also be used for extrusion blow molding, where a low-flow material is necessary to form bottles and other hollow shapes.
- Stationery Sheets: The rigidity and processability of the material make it suitable for producing durable stationery items like folders and binders.
