SABIC LEXAN™ HPS4 PC is a specialized, medium-flow polycarbonate resin engineered for demanding applications in the healthcare and medical device industries.

Physical Properties

  • Specific Gravity: Measured via ASTM D792, the material’s specific gravity is 1.19 g/cc, aligning with its density properties.
  • Density: Per ISO 1183, the density is 1.19 g/cc (0.0430 lb/in³), reflecting consistent mass-to-volume characteristics.
  • Water Absorption: ASTM D570 shows 0.14% after 24 hours; ISO 62 records 0.26% at 23°C/saturated, indicating moisture sensitivity.
  • Moisture Absorption: Under 23°C/50% RH (ISO 62), the material absorbs 0.100%, suitable for moderate humidity environments.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage, Flow: By SABIC method, flow-direction shrinkage is 0.0050–0.0070 cm/cm (0.0050–0.0070 in/in) for 3.20 mm (0.126 in) thickness.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage, Transverse: SABIC method yields 0.0050–0.0070 cm/cm (0.0050–0.0070 in/in) transversely at 3.20 mm (0.126 in) thickness.
  • Melt Flow: ISO 1133 measures 10 g/10 min at 300°C/1.20 kg; ASTM D1238 shows 10.5 g/10 min under identical conditions.
