ExxonMobil LD 419.MV LDPE Resin

ExxonMobil™ LD 419.MV is a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) resin specifically engineered for high-speed injection molding applications.

Physical Properties

  • Density: ExxonMobil Method tested at 0.921 g/cc (0.0333 lb/in³), suitable for medium-voltage cable insulation crosslinkable compounds.
  • Melt Flow: According to ASTM D1238, the melt flow rate is 2.3 g/10 min under a load of 2.16 kg and at 190 °C, indicating suitable processability for cable extrusion.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
  • Key Features:
    • Crosslinkable formulation via peroxide or silane methods for improved thermal stability.
    • High electrical resistivity and dielectric strength for reliable insulation in MV cables.
    • Low gel content for uniform extrusion and reduced defects in cable production.
    • UV and ozone resistance for outdoor cable applications.

Applications:

The high flow and balanced mechanical properties of LD 419.MV make it an ideal material for a range of injection molded products.

  • Household Goods: Used for a variety of consumer articles that require durability and a clean finish, such as buckets, storage containers, and other houseware items.
  • Caps and Closures: Its high flowability and dimensional stability are perfect for manufacturing caps, lids, and closures with precise threads and tight tolerances.
  • Durable Toys: The material’s balance of stiffness and impact resistance ensures toys can withstand rough play while the high flow allows for intricate designs and fast production.
  • General Injection Molding: A versatile choice for a broad range of general-purpose injection molded parts that need reliable performance and efficient manufacturing.
