SABIC P438J LLDPE Resin
SABIC P438J is a Medium Density Polyethylene natural resin produced by SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation).
Physical Properties
- Density: Measured by ASTM D1505, the density is 0.938 g/cc (0.0339 lb/in³). This density provides stiffness, making it suitable for extrusion applications needing structural integrity.
- ESCR 10% Igepal®:Tested by F0 standard and ASTM D1693B method, ESCR 10% Igepal® is ≥1000 hours at 50.0°C (122°F), indicating excellent crack resistance for long – lasting extrusion products.
- Melt Flow: Tested by ASTM D1238 at 2.16 kg load, 190 °C, it’s 0.40 g/10 min. It allows for controlled processing during extrusion of products.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Medium Density Polyethylene
- Modification Features:
- TNPP – free, combining stiffness, toughness, high melt strength, and low gel content.
- Has excellent processability due to its tailored molecular weight distribution and flow properties.
- Contains an optimized level of stabilizers and no slip or anti – block additives.
Applications:
- Extrusion: For manufacturing pipes used in water supply systems, ensuring durability and leak – resistance.
- Industrial Equipment: Used to make mechanical housings that require a balance of strength and processability.
Performance & Manufacturing Benefits
- Processability: Optimized molecular-weight distribution ensures smooth extrusion—even at low MFR—making it ideal for demanding thin-wall and pipe extrusion operations.
- Mechanical reliability: High ESCR (Environmental Stress Crack Resistance) and tensile properties contribute to long-term performance in outdoor or pressurized irrigation systems.
- Regulatory and organoleptic suitability: As a TNPP-free grade with no added slip or antiblock agents, P438J is advantageous for applications where chemical purity and minimal contamination are essential.
