SABIC P5307N HDPE Multimodal Resin
SABIC P5307N is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin with a multimodal molecular weight distribution, specifically designed for pipe extrusion.
Physical Properties
- Density: Measured with the ASTM D1505 standard, the density is 0.952 g/cc (0.0344 lb/in³). It is associated with the material’s mechanical properties, like stiffness and toughness.
- Melt Flow: Based on the ISO 1133 standard, at 190 °C (374 °F) with a 21.6 kg load, the melt flow is 8.0 g/10 min. A high melt flow implies good processability for pipe extrusion.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
- Key Features:
- Superior Long-Term Hydrostatic Strength:The material is designed to withstand continuous internal pressure for decades, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments.
- Excellent Stress Crack Resistance:The multimodal structure provides outstanding resistance to slow crack growth.
- High Resistance to Rapid Crack Propagation:This grade has a high resistance to fast-moving cracks, which is a crucial safety feature for pressure pipes transporting gas or water.
Applications:
- Potable Water Pipes: The material is widely used for municipal and residential water supply systems, where its long-term strength and safety are paramount.
- Natural Gas Pipes: Its excellent RCP resistance makes it a safe and reliable choice for gas distribution networks, preventing leaks.
- Industrial Pipes: This grade is also used for a variety of industrial and process piping applications that require high chemical resistance and durability.
