Chi Mei PA-727 Hot Sale ABS Resin
Chi Mei PA-727 is an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) copolymer with high gloss, produced by Chi Mei Corporation.
Physical Properties
- Density: Measured per ISO 1183, the density is 1.04 g/cc (0.0376 lb/in³), a key parameter for material mass and volume calculations.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage: Per ASTM D955, linear shrinkage ranges 0.0030–0.0070 cm/cm, critical for mold design to ensure part dimensional accuracy.
- Melt Flow: Under ASTM D1238/ISO 1133, rates are 1.8 g/10 min (200°C/5kg) and 19 g/10 min (220°C/10kg), showing processability variations.
Polymer Properties:
- Base Material: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
- Modification Features:
- High – gloss surface, ideal for products requiring an attractive appearance.
- Good weather resistance, suitable for outdoor – exposed applications.
- Excellent moldability, enabling the production of intricate designs.
- Good impact strength, providing durability for various uses.
Applications:
- Automotive: For exterior trim like grilles, mirror housings, and license plate frames, adding aesthetic appeal with weather protection.
- Electronics: To produce smartphone cases, tablet frames, and display bezels, combining style and protection for devices.
- Consumer Goods: Used for decorative items, household appliance casings, and toy bodies, ensuring both beauty and toughness.
Processing Advantages
POLYLAC® PA-727’s processing characteristics enhance its suitability for these applications:
- Injection Molding Compatibility: Processed at melt temperatures of 220–250°C on standard injection-molding machines, ensuring smooth plasticating for thin-walled and intricate parts.
- Demolding Ease: Favorable surface slip properties allow draft angles of 0.5–1°, facilitating production of complex moldings.
- Surface Quality: High gloss achieved at mold temperatures of 60–80°C, ideal for visible components.
- Recycling Potential: Regrind can be reused if free from contamination, supporting sustainability.
Limitations
- UV Sensitivity: ABS is prone to yellowing and brittleness under prolonged UV exposure, making it unsuitable for unpainted exterior applications.
- Chemical Resistance: Offers moderate resistance but may require coatings for exposure to harsh chemicals like acids or alcohols.
- Lower Impact Strength: Compared to high-impact grades like PA-747 or PA-777B, its ~12–18 kJ/m² impact strength is less suited for heavy-duty applications.
- Material Compatibility: Incompatible with most thermoplastics (e.g., polyolefins, polyamides) in the melt, leading to delamination if mixed.
- Non-Food-Grade: Not typically certified for direct food contact, limiting its use in food-related applications.
