Chi Mei PA-747 Hot Sale ABS Resin

POLYLAC PA-747, manufactured by Chi Mei Corporation, is a high-impact acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resin designed for injection molding and extrusion.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Measured in line with ISO 1183 using injection – molded samples, the density is 1.03 g/cc (0.0372 lb/in³).
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: Based on ASTM D955 for relevant measurements, it ranges from 0.0030 – 0.0070 cm/cm (0.0030 – 0.0070 in/in).
  • Melt Flow: Per ASTM D1238, melt flow is 1.2 g/10 min at 200 °C (392 °F), 5.00 kg (11.0 lb); per ISO – 1133, it’s 13 g/10 min at 220 °C (428 °F), 10.0 kg (22.0 lb).

Polymer Properties:

  1. Base Material: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
  2. Modification Features
    • Maintains excellent impact resistance even in low – temperature conditions.
    • Demonstrates remarkable toughness and strength, ideal for parts subjected to high stress.
    • Shows good flowability and stability, suitable for injection molding and extrusion processes.

Applications:

  1. Home Appliance Sector: Used for the shells and structural components of home appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, and air conditioners.
  2. Automotive Industry: Applied in manufacturing automotive interior and exterior parts that demand high impact resistance.
  3. Electronics Industry: Suitable for components of electronic products like casings, sockets, and switches with high – performance requirements.
  4. Other High – Strength Requirement Areas: For instance, casings of industrial equipment and toys.

Processing Advantages

POLYLAC® PA-747’s processing characteristics enhance its suitability for these applications:

  • Injection Molding and Extrusion Compatibility: Processed at melt temperatures of 220–250°C on standard equipment, ensuring smooth plasticating for both molding and extrusion.
  • Demolding Ease: Favorable surface slip properties allow draft angles of 0.5–1° in injection molding, facilitating production of complex parts.
  • Surface Quality: Glossy finish achieved at mold temperatures of 60–80°C, ideal for visible components.
  • Recycling Potential: Regrind can be reused if free from contamination, supporting sustainability.

Limitations

  • UV Sensitivity: ABS is prone to yellowing and brittleness under prolonged UV exposure, making it unsuitable for unpainted exterior applications.
  • Chemical Resistance: Offers moderate resistance but may require coatings for exposure to harsh chemicals like acids or alcohols.
  • Material Compatibility: Incompatible with most thermoplastics (e.g., polyolefins, polyamides) in the melt, leading to delamination if mixed.
  • Non-Food-Grade: Not typically certified for direct food contact, limiting its use in food-related applications.
