CHIMEI WONDERLOY® PC-6201

High-Performance, Halogen-Free Flame-Retardant PC/ABS Alloy

Engineered for Safety and Performance

WONDERLOY® PC-6201 is a premier engineering thermoplastic from CHI MEI, designed to meet the rigorous demands of the modern electronics and appliance industries. This alloy masterfully blends Polycarbonate (PC) and ABS to deliver a material with an exceptional balance of properties. You get the high heat resistance and impact strength of PC combined with the superior processability and finish of ABS.

Manufactured using an advanced chlorine-free process, PC-6201 prevents mold corrosion, extending tool life and promoting a more sustainable manufacturing footprint. As a halogen-free, flame-retardant grade, it is the ideal choice for creating safe, reliable, and environmentally conscious products.

Key Characteristics at a Glance

UL94 V-0 Flame Rating

Achieves the highest flammability rating (V-0 at 2.0 mm) for maximum product safety in electronic applications.

High Heat Resistance

Features a Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) of 102°C, making it ideal for heat-generating device housings.

Superior Impact Strength

Offers excellent toughness (Izod Impact: 58 kJ/m²) to protect devices from drops and impacts during service life.

Halogen-Free Compliance

Formulated with non-brominated and non-chlorinated flame retardants to meet global eco-labeling standards like RoHS and REACH.

Target Applications

The balanced profile of flame retardancy, thermal stability, and mechanical toughness makes PC-6201 the perfect material for:

Information & Communication Technology (ICT)

Housings for routers, set-top boxes, network modems, and other networking equipment where fire safety and heat resistance are critical.

Computer & Peripherals

Enclosures for projectors, printer casings, monitor frames, and other peripherals requiring structural rigidity and a V-0 rating.

Consumer Electronics & Appliances

Casings for video game consoles, power tool chargers, power adapters, and transformer housings where consumer safety is paramount.

The Competitive Edge

WONDERLOY® PC-6201 is strategically engineered to fill a crucial performance gap in the market. It provides a balanced profile that its constituent polymers or direct competitors cannot match, offering an optimal solution for safety-critical applications with moderate thermal loads.

Property WONDERLOY® PC-6201 Covestro Bayblend® FR3010 SABIC CYCOLOY™ C1200HF General Purpose PC General Purpose ABS
UL94 Flame Rating V-0 V-0 HB V-2 / HB HB

Compared to other V-0 rated PC/ABS like Bayblend® FR3010, PC-6201 offers a significantly higher heat resistance (+12°C HDT). Compared to high-heat grades like CYCOLOY™ C1200HF, it provides a vastly superior flame rating (V-0 vs. HB), making it the clear choice where fire safety is a non-negotiable requirement.

Processing & Safety Guidelines

Mandatory Pre-Drying

This material is hygroscopic and must be dried before processing to prevent defects and property loss.

  • Temperature: 80 - 100 °C
  • Time: 4 hours
  • Target Moisture: < 0.02%

Recommended Injection Molding

Use these parameters as a starting point for optimal results.

  • Barrel Temperatures: 240 - 280 °C
  • Mold Temperature: 50 - 100 °C
  • Back Pressure: Low to moderate (0.3 - 0.7 MPa)
Safety First: The molten polymer can cause severe thermal burns. Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including heat-insulating gloves and safety glasses. Ensure adequate ventilation to remove processing fumes.
