Covestro Bayblend T80 XG is an unreinforced PC – ABS blend with excellent flow and optimized surface for metallization via steam treatment.
Physical Properties
- Density: Measured per ISO 1183 – 1, it’s 1.14 g/cc (0.0412 lb/in³), important for weight – sensitive applications like portable products.
- Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: Based on ISO 62 at 50% RH, it’s 0.20%, helping predict performance in humid conditions.
- Water Absorption at Saturation: Per ISO 62, it’s 0.70%, vital for water – exposed applications to prevent degradation.
- Viscosity: Measured by ISO 11443 – A at 1000 1/s shear rate and 260 °C (500 °F), it’s 190000 cP, affecting flow in injection molding.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage, Flow: For 150x105x3mm plaques per ISO 2577, at 3.00 mm (0.118 in) thickness, it ranges 0.0055 – 0.0075 cm/cm (0.0055 – 0.0075 in/in) in flow direction, key for part dimension control.
- Linear Mold Shrinkage, Transverse: Under ISO 2577, at 3.00 mm (0.118 in) thickness, it’s 0.0055 – 0.0075 cm/cm (0.0055 – 0.0075 in/in) across width, ensuring dimensional accuracy.
