Covestro Bayblend T95 MF is a 9% mineral-filled PC/ABS blend with very good heat resistance and reduced coefficient of thermal expansion.

Physical Properties

  • Density: Measured using injection-molded samples in accordance with ISO 1183, the density is 1.24 g/cc (0.0448 lb/in³) with 9% mineral filler.
  • Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: Determined by ISO 62, the moisture absorption at equilibrium is 0.20%.
  • Water absorption at saturation:Determined by ISO 62, the water absorption at saturation is 0.60%.
  • Viscosity: At 260°C and a shear rate of 1000 1/s, the melt viscosity is 400,000 cP (ISO 11443-A).
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: For injection-molded plaques, the linear mold shrinkage is 0.0050–0.0070 cm/cm (0.0050–0.0070 in/in) as per ISO 2577.
  • Melt Flow: As per ISO 1133, at 260°C under a load of 5.00 kg, the melt flow rate is 22 g/10 min.

Polymer Properties:

  • Base Material: PC (Polycarbonate) + ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
  • Reinforcement: 9% Mineral Fill
  • Modification Features:
    • Mineral filling for reduced coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and improved dimensional stability.
    • Very good heat resistance for high-temperature applications.
    • Enhanced tensile modulus for structural integrity.

Applications:

The combination of extreme heat resistance, balanced flow, and good impact strength makes Bayblend T95 MF an ideal material for several critical applications in demanding industries.

  • Automotive Under-the-Hood Components:This is a key application area where materials must withstand high and fluctuating temperatures. The balanced flow allows for the molding of complex parts.
    • Engine Covers and Air Intake Manifolds: It can withstand the intense heat of the engine compartment while providing a durable, lightweight component.
    • Electrical Connectors and Sensor Housings: Used in engine electronics where both heat resistance and precise, intricate molding are required.
    • Lamp Housings: Components for vehicle lighting systems that generate significant heat.
  • High-Temperature Electronics:For high-power electronic devices and appliances that generate or are exposed to significant heat.
    • High-Powered LED Lighting Housings: The material’s thermal stability manages the heat generated by high-power LEDs, making it suitable for industrial or automotive lighting applications.
    • Power Tool Casings: The combination of high heat resistance and good impact strength makes it suitable for professional-grade power tools that operate in harsh environments.
