• Melt Density: Measured by ASTM D1238 at 230 °C, the 1.08 g/cc melt density helps in consistent BCF fiber production.
• Viscosity Measurement: The relative viscosity of 4.0 (CD Internal Viscotek Method) affects resin flow during BCF manufacturing.
• Melt Flow: According to ASTM D1238, at 210 °C and 2.16 kg load, the 4.0 – 8.0 g/10 min melt flow is ideal for BCF production.

Processing Guidelines

NatureWorks 6400D is a versatile grade that can be processed on a variety of conventional equipment. Proper drying is crucial to prevent hydrolysis and ensure optimal product quality.

• Recommended Processing Temperature: 170°C – 200°C
• Drying: The resin should be dried to a moisture content of <250 ppm before processing. Recommended drying conditions are 4 hours at 40°C.
