Formosa Plastics Group is a leading global chemical company founded in 1954 and headquartered in Taiwan. Its product range includes polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polystyrene (PS). These materials serve a wide range of industries such as packaging, consumer goods, electronics, and automotive.

Polystyrene (PS) is produced under the TAIRIREX brand by Formosa Chemical Fiber Corporation (FCFC), a subsidiary of Formosa Plastics. Known for its transparency, cost-effectiveness, and ease of processing, PS is available in two main types: General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS) and High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS).

TAIRIREX General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS)

GPPS offers excellent clarity and rigidity. It is widely used in products like food packaging, transparent containers, and disposable tableware. TAIRIREX GPPS grades, such as GP525N and GP5000, are optimized for injection molding and extrusion. These grades provide high gloss, good mechanical strength, and easy processing performance.

TAIRIREX High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)

For applications requiring greater durability, HIPS is the preferred choice. It incorporates butadiene rubber to improve toughness while maintaining ease of processing. TAIRIREX HIPS grades such as HP825F and HP8250 offer a balanced combination of impact strength, rigidity, and thermal resistance. Additionally, they feature low GEL content and minimal residual monomers, making them suitable for applications demanding safety and mechanical performance.
