BASF ULTRAMID A3HG5 HOT Sale PA66 Resin

BASF ULTRAMID A3HG5 is a 25% short glass fiber reinforced polyamide 66 (PA66) polymer produced by BASF (BASF SE).

Physical Properties

  • Density: As measured by the ISO 1183 standard, the density of the material is 1.32 g/cc, which is equivalent to 0.0477 lb/in³.
  • Water Absorption: In compliance with ISO 62, the water absorption rate lies in the range of 5.7 – 6.3 %.
  • Moisture Absorption at Equilibrium: At 23°C and 50% relative humidity (R.H.), following the ISO 62 standard, the moisture absorption at equilibrium is 1.7 – 2.1 %.
  • Viscosity Number: Measured according to ISO 307, the viscosity number is 145 cm³/g or 1.45 dl/g.
  • Linear Mold Shrinkage: The linear mold shrinkage value is 0.0055 cm/cm.
  • Melt Flow: As determined by ISO 1133, under a load of 5.00 kg (11.0 lb) at a temperature of 275 °C (527 °F), the melt flow rate is 66 g/10 min.

Polymer Properties:

  1. Base Material: Polyamide 66 (PA66)
  2. Reinforcement: 25% Short Glass Fiber
  3. Modification Features:
    • 25% glass fiber reinforcement for high strength and stiffness.
    • Improved heat resistance for use in elevated – temperature environments.
    • Good dimensional stability, reducing warpage during processing and use.

Applications:

Given its enhanced thermal and mechanical properties, ULTRAMID A3HG5 PA66 is commonly used in critical, high-performance applications where standard glass-filled grades may not suffice.

  • Automotive Industry: It’s widely used for under-the-hood components that are constantly exposed to high temperatures, engine coolants, and oils.
    • Examples include engine covers, air intake manifolds, radiator end tanks, and various housings and brackets.
    • The material’s ability to maintain its integrity under these harsh conditions is crucial for vehicle safety and reliability.
  • Electrical & Electronics: For parts that require both mechanical strength and resistance to heat. This can include high-voltage connectors, sensor housings, and other components that operate in hot environments.
  • Industrial Applications: Used for components in industrial machinery that operate at high temperatures, such as gear wheels, bearing cages, and precision parts in textile or mechanical engineering.
