DuPont (DuPont de Nemours, Inc.) is a U.S. multinational chemical company headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, founded in 1802. It has developed numerous innovative products, such as Teflon, Kevlar, and various polymers including polyamides (PA) and polyoxymethylene (POM). As a leader in materials science, DuPont currently focuses on high-value markets such as electronics, transportation, and safety, providing specialty products and sustainable solutions.

Historically, DuPont was a pioneer in polyamides, notably producing nylon under its Zytel brand. On February 17, 2022, DuPont announced an agreement with Celanese to sell most of its M&M business for $11 billion in cash. The acquired M&M portfolio includes many specialty materials and globally leading polymers such as nylon (PA 66, PA 6), specialty nylon (HPPA, LCPA, fibrids), polyester (PET and PBT), and elastomers (TPC and EAE).

DuPont continues to produce polyoxymethylene (POM, also known as acetal) through its Delrin brand. Delrin is the homopolymer form of POM, offering higher tensile strength, rigidity, creep and fatigue resistance, as well as significantly higher impact resistance compared to acetal copolymers. It is suitable for high-load mechanical applications such as gears, safety restraint systems, door systems, conveyor belts, and medical delivery equipment, operating in a temperature range of -40°C to 120°C. It also features good colorability and compatibility with metals and other polymers. On November 1, 2023, DuPont completed the sale of an 80.1% stake in its Delrin business to TJC LP (formerly known as Jordan Company), valued at $1.8 billion. Despite this partial divestiture, DuPont remains committed to developing and marketing Delrin products, ensuring its continued presence in the POM market.
