Duranex® 2002 is an unreinforced polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) grade from Polyplastics, designed for high flow and low warpage. Its melt flow rate measures 30 g/10 min (260 °C/2.16 kg), and mold shrinkage falls between 1.5% and 2.0%. This makes it suitable for thin-wall parts with tight tolerances where glass fiber reinforcement would add unnecessary stiffness.

Duranex 2002 serves in components that emphasize flexibility, vibration resistance, and assembly tolerance over high rigidity. Specific uses include:
- Clip fasteners for door trim, instrument panels, and pillars
- Retainers for wire harnesses, corrugated tube holders, and cable tie bases
- Louvers for air vents and sections of flexible HVAC ducting
- Covers for battery trays, fuse boxes, and small under-hood enclosures
- Rivets and pawls in seat adjustment mechanisms
It maintains dimensional stability and mechanical properties after prolonged exposure to engine oil, coolant, and battery acid.
Electrical & Electronic Components
The grade's flow properties and inherent electrical insulation support thin-wall designs in connectors and switches. Examples include:
- Housings for automotive and industrial connectors (wall thickness 0.4–1.2 mm, 20–100 positions)
- Bases and return-spring supports for microswitches
- Casings for surface-mount and through-hole capacitors
- Bobbins for coils in small relays and contactors
- Reflector cups and brackets for LEDs (natural color provides high reflectivity)
- Latches and stiffeners for flexible printed circuit (FPC) and flat flexible cable (FFC) connectors
In natural form, it meets UL94 V-0 flammability from 0.75 mm thickness and comparative tracking index (CTI) PLC 0 at 600 V, eliminating the need for added flame retardants in many cases.
General Precision Components
Duranex 2002 applies to parts in office equipment, appliances, and consumer products that involve repeated motion, require smooth finishes, and use thin sections. Key examples are:
- Gears for paper feed, separation claws, and sensor brackets in laser printers and copiers
- Program knobs and door-lock sliders in washing machines and dishwashers
- Rivets for drawer slides and plastic elements in cabinet hinges
- Triggers, switch sliders, and battery latches in power tools
- Valves and transmission components in coffee machines and food processors
Molded parts often require no post-processing for assembly or printing.
