BASF PA6 PA66 Polymer

BASF Ultramid portfolio includes both PA6 and PA66. These materials come in a variety of molecular weights and viscosities. Manufacturers can select from grades that include additives or reinforcements like glass fibers or minerals. This versatility makes them suitable for automotive parts, electrical devices, home appliances, and general industrial use.

In the automotive sector, PA6 and PA66 offer high strength and heat resistance. As a result, engineers often choose them for engine covers, brackets, and other under-the-hood components. In electrical applications, both materials provide dimensional stability and low creep. This makes them ideal for connectors, housings, and similar parts.

For demanding applications, Ultramid 1503-2 BK ND3007 is a popular option. It contains 33% glass fiber and includes heat stabilization, making it well-suited for structural uses.

Polyamide 6 (PA6) is known for its toughness, abrasion resistance, and easy processing. It has a lower melting point than PA66. Therefore, it works well in films, fibers, and injection-molded parts. By adding glass fiber or mineral filler, users can increase its mechanical strength and stability.

On the other hand, Polyamide 66 (PA66) provides even better heat resistance and rigidity. It melts around 260°C and is often used in parts that require dimensional accuracy and durability. With 30–35% glass fiber reinforcement, it performs well in high-load environments.

Both materials are compatible with injection molding and extrusion. This means they can support efficient, large-scale production for a wide range of end-use products.
